Dr. Christopher M. Good is the Director of Aquatic Veterinary Research at The Conservation Fund’s Freshwater Institute. Dr. Good earned his B.Sc. from the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada, and went on to earn his M.Sc., D.V.M. and Ph.D. from the Ontario Veterinary College, Canada. His dissertation research involved epidemiological investigations of bacterial gill disease outbreaks in Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources (OMNR) salmonid hatcheries. During his graduate studies, Dr. Good worked at the OMNR Fish Health Laboratory and the Canadian Cooperative Wildlife Health Center’s West Nile and Avian Influenza Surveillance Laboratory. Dr. Good began work as the Aquaculture Veterinarian at The Freshwater Institute in January 2007, and is a licensed veterinarian in the state of West Virginia and a member of the World Aquaculture Society. His current research focuses on improving the sustainability of the aquaculture industry through enhanced health and welfare of farmed fish, and he is involved in peer-reviewed and industry publications, lectures at conferences and workshops, and frequent interaction with stakeholders.
