Since 2003 we have donated a quarter of a million pounds of fish to the Federation of Virginia Food Banks. That's roughly 480,000 meals!

We're dedicated to making the most of the fish produced at our facility. "The fish are large and really good quality - we don’t want to just throw them away," says Senior Research Associate John Davidson.

Other facts:

  • Freshwater also has donated about 80,000 pounds of rainbow trout to the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.

  • Rainbow trout also were provided to a BassPro Shop in Pennsylvania, where they were used to stock an artificial “living stream” located within the Harrisburg mall and Bass Pro Shops store.
