World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Dialogues are Underway in the North Atlantic

Dr. Steven Summerfelt, Aquaculture Research Program Leader will be participating in the Freshwater Trout Aquaculture Dialogue (FTAD) on May 27 and 28th in Thorshavn, the Faroe Islands. The goal of the meeting is to move forward with the process of creating measurable, performance-based standards for responsible Rainbow Trout aquaculture.

A broad variety of stakeholders, including members of the trout aquaculture industry, NGO’s, and government, will be identifying the key criteria impacting freshwater trout aquaculture. Stakeholders will then work to develop indicators for measuring the criteria with the eventual goal of creating standards for sustainable trout production.

This event is part of a broader set of roundtable discussions to create standards to minimize the environmental and social impacts associated with aquaculture. Click here for more information.
